Materials
The workshop is presented as a PowerPoint presentation that guides participants through the process of preparing a video introduction – including considerations for producing the best quality product. Instruction for editing, publishing and creating QR code links to finished video content is also provided.
After materials have been uploaded and the QR code is created, strategies for embedding the codes into printed résumés and application materials are discussed. An informal Q&A session is offered as a means to raise awareness of other options for using QR codes to link to not just a video but an entire online portfolio. Plenty of time is made available for one on one consultations with interested participants.
Note
The workshop is typically presented as an open session for students in conjunction with Career Services staff but has also been presented in collaboration with other campus departments, groups and clubs. The opening portion of the workshop can either take the form of a live demonstration (where Media Commons production equipment is available) or with pre-prepared examples.
