Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Christopher Lee, I’m a Media Commons Consultant at The Pennsylvania State University based on the University Park campus. I teach numerous workshops using an array of Adobe products to help students, faculty, and staff learn and use software and technology in new and creative ways to help them with their assignments, research, or projects. Another core responsibility I have is to oversee the installation, implementation, and maintenance of the one-button studio on all of the campuses.

I was born and raised in the Washington DC area and I have a background in photography, videography, and audio through working many jobs through my studies and internships at Penn State and freelancing. A few hobbies of mine include lacrosse, photography, videography, and hiking. A little fun fact about me is I used to be a professional firebreather.

What equipment do you use?

For work I use a Macbook Pro, iPad Pro, and a Sony a7siii. Being able to pick up everything I need from work and fit it into one backpack or carry it is very important to me since I am constantly moving around and I sometimes need to be in different buildings, also I am a huge fan of how Apple products connect to each other. At home, I use a Dell Laptop, iPhone, and Canon r6 Mkii. I have been a big fan of those products/brands for a long time and I felt like I had no reason to change my brands but if there is a far superior brand I can gladly make the change. I also keep a carpenter pencil and a Sharpie on me just to be able to make quick notes on something if there is important information I need to remember.

What apps are your favorite?

For work, the software/apps that I use frequently are Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, Adobe Stock, Adobe Express, Microsoft 365, Teams, and Slack. For my personal life, I am a pretty heavy user of Instagram, and part of why is because there is a lot of great media focused artist and designers on there and I love seeing so many peoples work all across the world that I would never have seen if I was not on that platform. I also like exploring new apps that use phone technology like Polycam or Luma so I can try to implement them somehow into my work.
