Using the Blue Snowball Microphone

This tutorial will show you how to use the Blue Snowball microphone. The Blue Snowball microphone plugs into any computer via a USB cable. It is ideal for recording narration for a video or audio project. The Blue Snowball microphone is available at all Media Commons locations.

Before beginning to use the Blue Snowball microphone first make sure that the USB cable is firmly plugged into the back of the microphone and the USB port on the computer.

A red light on the top of the microphone will glow indicating that there is power going to the microphone and it is connected to the computer.

On the back of the microphone are three different recording settings. One of these settings will need to be chosen before using the microphone.

1. Narration

Setting 1

The first setting is for recording narration and is the setting typically used for the narration of video and audio projects.

2. Music

Second SettingThe second setting is ideal for music recording.

3. Meeting Room

Third SettingThe third setting is for recording large areas, such as meeting rooms.

To select a setting simply slide the switch to the number of the setting you would like to use.

You are now ready to record using the Blue Snowball microphone.
