Warm December greetings – and welcome to the last few weeks of the Fall 2014 semester. We made it!
As our attention turns from wrapping up this term’s courses to prepping for Spring 2015, I wanted to extend an offer to get in touch if there’s any way that I can be of help to you as you plan multimedia assignments for your new crop of students. Whether you’re hoping to shake up a project you’ve offered for many years with new tools or approaches or offering your very first video or audio exercise, Media Commons aims to help with lots of faculty resources. Here are just a few:
- Faculty Stories – new for 2014 and a great way to get inspired
- Case Studies – look at other instructors’ projects in-depth, including rubrics and examples
- The Appetizer Assignment – looking for something simple to try first in your class? try this!
- Scholarly Storytelling – developed with the Library and aimed at making media projects solid research projects, too
- Working with Community Clients – going the service learning route? great tips here!
- Instructor’s Guide to Media Activities – when you’re ready to put it all together, this is a good place to get started
There’s much more on the Media Commons website, too, including a Student Spotlight full of exemplary projects, our Free Media Library for finding legal media, the Tutorial library and interactive Modules that provide just-in-time training and Location pages for each campus. Get started at mediacommons.psu.edu – or get in touch directly for a more personalized approach right from the start.
No matter what you hope to do with media in the Spring, I’m happy to help. From consultations to in-class training to student support and even guest grading, Media Commons makes it easy to get great results in your courses.
Looking forward to talking with you soon!
