For several months the campus contacts and I have been meeting once a month for a “Lunch and Link” session. These meetings are being held over Adobe Connect or Google Hangout. They are intended to be a place where the campus contacts can join in discussion about Media Commons projects happening at their campuses. It was my thought, that perhaps every so often we could meet at a campus and do this meeting face-to-face. I brought this idea up to some of my campus contacts at an event this past Fall. They felt this was a good plan, but wanted to take it a step further and create a workshop for that meeting. A workshop they may bring faculty to participate in. Thus came the “Bring Your Syllabus to Life” Workshop. The workshop was intended to help faculty create short introduction videos for their Angel pages. As the planning advanced it was decided that the faculty attending the event would have a chance to make an introduction video using iPod Touches. These were provided for them for the day of the workshop. It was also decided that the workshop would be held at the Berks campus on Monday, January 21st 2013. A cold January 21st came yesterday, and with it the “Bring Your Syllabus to Life” workshop. We had a very nice group. There were 10 faculty and 10 staff from almost all of the Eastern campuses. Also included in the attendance were Brian Young and Heather Hughes, the Traveling Instructional Designers from ETS.
The day concluded with a lovely lunch. Following the event an email with helpful links(iMovie App tutorial), attachments (presentation slides/Angel Upload Guide) and a survey were sent out. I hope this was helpful to those who attended, and that we can do more events like this in the future!
