As digital media plays an increasingly important role in the instruction faculty provide and the educational opportunities students expect, higher educational institutions are faced with a growing need to provide services to support this, both in terms of technology platforms and the pedagogy necessary to effectively leverage those platforms. The Media Commons Tailgate is a community-built unconference aimed at exploring the possibilities of digital media for teaching and learning. This event will be an opportunity for faculty, instructional designers, educational technologists, library staff, and others to explore new media technologies in-depth, and to challenge our fundamental ideas about where they fit in education. The conference will be held on Saturday, November 13th, 2010 at the new Foster Auditorium in Paterno Library at Penn State’s University Park Campus. An optional half-day hands-on workshop will be held in the afternoon of Friday, November 12th. For more information, visit the Tailgate wiki.
UPDATE: The Media Commons Tailgate has been rescheduled to November 12-13.
