Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Ryan Klinger and I’m the educational technology and multimedia specialist for the Harrell Health Sciences Library at Penn State College of Medicine and Milton S Hershey Medical Center. I provide support to Penn State Hershey students, faculty and staff in using the library’s One Button Studio and the Technology Innovation Sandbox, which currently offers 3D printing and 3D scanning; augmented and virtual reality; and a 9 panel video wall for visualization.

What equipment do you use?

At work, I use of a combination of PCs and Macs. I use a PC for day-to-day operations, both PCs and Macs to run the video wall and Macs to record and edit within the One Button Studio. Personally, I use a Google Pixel, an iPad and a PC laptop. Using a combination of equipment and machines keeps me on my toes but I enjoy being able to help maximize usability for the variety of end users we support in the Library.

What apps are your favorite?

Evernote, Gmail, Calendar, News and Weather seem to be my go to apps for personal use. Evernote is my go to for note taking and has come in handy on many occasions when I forget the one of many passwords that I need to remember. For work, I use iMovie, Garageband, Audacity, Final Cut Pro, Camtasia, and Captivate.
