Plant Sciences Brown Bag

On Monday, August 25, 2014, Media Commons reached out to College of Ag’s Plant Sciences department with a “Brown Bag lunch” presentation. Instructors in the Plant Sciences department were invited to attend the event to learn more about using the Media Commons services to start incorporating multimedia assignments into their classes. Attendees were introduced briefly to what services Media Commons offers by Ag Media Commons consultant, Lauren Rodgers, and then heard from Horticulture Professor, Jim Sellmer, about a handful of different media projects in his and other Ag classes.

Attendees viewed example videos from each of Sellmer’s HORT 410, “Issues in Landscape Contracting,” course, Tarrah Geszvain’s AG 150, “We Are Plant Sciences,” First-Year Seminar, and Rob Berghage’s HORT 202, “Plant Propagation,” course. The videos and project descriptions from Sellmer spurred many questions about incorporating multimedia projects into their courses, and the discussion concluded with everyone having ideas for how to do so with the help of Media Commons. The Zero-Waste-catered event was held in the Ag Media Commons, located in 109 Ag Science and Industries Building.
